Overnight on the Ocmulgee

Two Days of Adventure

Looking for an overnight experience on the Ocmulgee River? You’ve found it! This adventure can be enjoyed as a guided experience, a completely self supported trip, or somewhere in between. For public group trips, enjoy the added perk of OOE staff moving your camping gear to the campsite so you can paddle with a lighter load!

If all you need is a shuttle ride at the beginning of the adventure, we can set you up with a ride and get you hooked up with a campsite or treehouse reservation.

If you don’t need any support with a shuttle ride or gear rental, then book your campsite or treehouse stay directly with the campsite host’s Airbnb page.

The Trip: Day 1 begins with an 8 mile paddle below the dam at in Juliette. Small shoals break up the flat water mileage, and unique river cabins and full time residences dot the banks. The mouth of Falling Creek, about 1/2 a mile above the campsite, makes for a particularly good spot to cool off on hot days. Once back on the water, you’ll shortly find yourself at the historic Dames Ferry, where OOE has access to a privately owned paddle-in campground. Tent camp or opt to stay in the treehouse constructed by OOE’s very own David Green! Day 2 on the river begins with a bang! The Falls of Dames Ferry (Class I-II shoals), just below the Hwy 18 bridge, will get the adrenaline pumping one last time before the final mellow 2 miles to Popes Ferry, or continue all the way to Amerson River Park for a second full day of adventure by adding the Extended Day 2 Paddle option!
