“Awesome float down the river yesterday!! Great service!! Cant wait to get back to do the longer run!!” June 29, 2015
“Wow I went down the river today for my first time. Everything was excellent. We had a great time and even ran into some old friends. We put into Amerson Park and went back to Spring Street. It took about an hour and 45 minutes. I am now ready for a long trip like Pope's Ferry. It is wonderful that you are doing a great service and encouraging use of one of Macon's greatest resources. I highly recommend the trip.” July 18, 2015
“We did the half day trip. It was wonderful. Water levels were great and weather. We were the only people on the river. Looking forward to next year!” November 1, 2015
My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience with Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions this weekend. Kathleen was very through and helpful getting us into and out of the water. She was also very concerned for our safety, as there was a chance of lightening and rain later in the afternoon. She kept us updated on the weather situation throughout our adventure, and even sent someone ahead of us in a kayak in case things turned rough unexpectedly. The best part was having snacks and refreshments ready for us after our two-hour canoe trip! She also took many pictures and sent them to my phone afterwards. I was blown away by the hospitality, friendliness, and comfort that OOE provided us, and would definitely recommend them to friends and family! June 2017
Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions is owned by Kathleen O’Neal, who grew up in Macon and with her parents canoed the Ocmulgee as a teenager and kayaked it while in law school at Mercer. She worked on the Ocoee, Chattooga and Nantahala rivers as a raft guide while in college and a few years ago she decided to take her love of the outdoors and passion for paddling and open a business. It’s much more than a business though; it’s a chance to introduce others to the beauty of the Ocmulgee River and make sure that they have a wonderful and safe time, too.
Ocmulgee Outdoor Expeditions makes it easy for you to get on the river. Floating the river with OOE saves you the expense of buying a boat, storing it safely, and setting up a shuttle. OOE will get you safely on the river in either a kayak or canoe, the proper size paddle, and a life jacket; provide instruction on how to steer the boat; cheer as you head off and then meet you at the finish with a cool glass of lemonade and a cookie.
